Meet Ucatchem’s Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Guides

Our Lake Ray Roberts fishing guides are headed by Ucatchem Guide Service owner, Jim Walling, who has been a full-time Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Guide since the lake opened to boats in 1990. He is joined by a fine group of professional fishing guides who know every stump, bump and hiding place for slab Crappie, Trophy Largemouth Bass, Trophy Striped Bass, stringers of White Bass, and Blue and Channel Catfish. Their mission is putting you on the fish you’re looking for while providing a fun outing for you, your family, company or group.

Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Guide
Jim Walling

At the age of 5, Jim was hooked on fishing! His Grandparents introduced him to fishing with a cane pole on a creek in Justin, TX. After catching 23 perch that day, it has led him to a life of fishing and helping others to get hooked on the sport! Jim spent 13 years in Denver where he became an avid fly fisherman and learned the art of fly tying. When he heard that Ray Roberts was finally going to be built, he made the decision to move back home and become a full time Guide when the lake opened to boats in 1990. Today Jim lives in Pilot Point, Texas, operating Ucatchem Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Guides, and after 26 years of thousands of Guided Trips, he knows every inch of the Lake and it’s his goal to make your Fishing Trip a Success!

Kenny Guthrie

My name is Kenny Guthrie and I have been fishing Lake Ray Roberts since it opened. I have a 24′ Center Console that is very comfortable to fish out of. I was a 25 year Student Pastor and I am currently the Men’s Pastor at Midway Church. I met Jim Walling at church and was blessed to get to Baptize him. I told Jim if he ever needed any help on fishing, I would love to help. He booked me the next Saturday. I told him I was not ready and he told me that He would teach me about fishing if I would teach him about the Lord. It has been 5 years and I love being a guide. I have learned a lot from Jim and we have a great team of guides. I love fishing with families. I get to do the two things I love the most. Fishing for Men and Fishing For Fish. I look forward to taking you out.

Lake Ray Roberts Fishing Guide
Ryan Oliver

Hello, my name is Ryan. I am a native north Texan, having almost always lived within minutes of Lake Ray Roberts. I bought my first bass boat when I was 15 years old, and have spent the last 25 years learning to catch all types of fish. I’ve been a licensed guide with Ucatchem’ Guide Service since 2019. I love all kinds of fishing including white bass and crappie, but my favorite type is largemouth bass fishing. I am a full time worship pastor at Rock Creek Church in Prosper, TX, but most of my spare time is spent at the Lake. I love putting people on fish, but even more, I really love getting to teach people how to be more successful at fishing. I have a 19.5′ Legend bass boat with some of the latest technology in fishing electronics. I look forward to meeting you and giving you a fishing experience that you will remember for many years to come.
